The Fox & Goose Inn Exmoor was a very popular, but dated Victorian Exmoor hunting lodge style pub, renown for its excellent food and hospitality. The bar was tired, dark and almost creepy. During Lockdown the owners decided it was time for a change.
Everything was dark stained wood, even the ceiling. The back bar was confused and taxidermy loomed over diners.
We got to work – hands-on with drills, hammers, even a chainsaw.
The gallery below shows how the pub looked before our overhaul.
We designed a simple, but striking and playful new logo.
We made the new sign out of the old one – spinning it 90 degrees, spraying, adding fret-cut shapes and vinyl.
Walls were bonded and plastered to change from the bumpy cottage effect. Then, we painted everything in shades of grey and blue, adding slate-effect flooring and rebuilding the fireplace.
We redesigned and hand-built the bar.
From stemware and glass-holders to mirrors and drinks menus we added Creative Scrum flavour.
We painted custom artwork and added framed photographs featuring the village’s lockdown spirit – bringing locals’ faces into the room.
We sourced chunky tables and chairs from Facebook marketplace, then installed stylish lighting and heating.
The owner says it all:
‘Wow, what can I say?I feel so proud of my stunning new space, it’s going to make a massive difference to how both my staff and customers feel about The Fox. Thank you Darren for giving my ‘home’ the kiss of life, I love it.’ Nikki
