University of Southampton Christmas card fun

While helping out at University of Southampton Print Centre, Darren designed their Christmas cards with Sammy to showcase their traditional 5-colour litho printing and their large format kiss-cut stickers.

It’s great to see folk starting to Tweet festive pics back to @UoSPrintCent as hoped.

Apologies to the lovely Karen for designing something quite so fiddly to ‘weed’ before mailing.

Great job print team.

Jayne’s cards arrive with elegant new identity

We’ve just designed a minimal and punchy identity for Jayne, one of Creative Scrum’s collaborators.

The striking, extra thick, 600gsm business cards arrived neatly-boxed this morning.

They’re printed on luxurious card with a sandwiched neon pink seam, to complement the vivid pink front.

Magazine lands with applause

After all the writing, photography, designing, selling advertising space and bottle-washing – we’ve finally got our hands on printed copies of our Launch Edition of APME ‘pages’ magazine. And nothing beats the smell of freshly-printed litho ink.

And what a cracking job of printing and distribution Ian and the team at the University of Leicester had done. Watch our video of their unit here.

Lovely comments already arriving from the membership about how it’s ‘a quantum leap forward in showcasing the Association’. Let’s hope it helps build and strengthen the network.

Shrink-wrapped with cover sheet, sealing that lovely litho-ink smell in for ‘Hot off the press’ smiles.

Smart neighbours

You now someone’s really smart when they decide to make a 3D printer. While plenty of folk are buying these gadgets, our neighbour decided to start from the ground up – importing all kinds of tech bits and creating his own.

Quick chat over the garden fence and straight indoors. Our new logo into Photoshop > Extrude (ish) and ‘Richard could you have a go at printing this?

Then a bookmark logo in Illustrator. Loads of fun. Well, for us anyway. For now he’s playing along. Productions runs. Hmm, might be a bit too cheeky.

Strong new image for personal training business

Business cards have just landed from the printer’s, marking the first application of this strong new identity. The cards are as robust as the emphatic logo, matt laminated on both sides with subtle spot UV on the front.

Pull-up banners and a vinyl banner completed the set David took to Woodley Carnival.

Soon, a bold graphic wall (mockup below), using inspirational typographic quotes, will transform the interior of his fitness studio.

Soaking up Ireland’s flavours

We recently enjoyed a trip to the Emerald Isle.

While in Dublin we soaked up more than the odd pint of Guinness. Trinity College Library, home to the Book of Kells, was simply awesome (unless you’re a fifteen year old being dragged along in the rain. Hence the somewhat stingy 75% rating of the capital city). Another time we’d have stopped longer.

Local street art was equally stunning and cried out for a quick photoshoot.

Peace and quiet

The Ring of Kerry was much more tranquil. When it didn’t rain, the scenery was stunning. So was the Sneem hotel’s mascot. We all fell for Red. Watch this space.
